Day 1: Depart for Portsmouth/Plymouth to embark on Britanny Ferries for an overnight cruise to Spain. Enjoy the many facilities onboard the ship including, self -service restaurant, small bar and café, boutique, seating area, range of en suite cabins.
Day 2: Evening arrival into the scenic Port of Santander and depart for your hotel base for the next five nights. The hotel Juan de la Cosa is set in gardens next to Berria Beach and along the Bay of Biscay. Thanks to its location your customers will easily explore the beautiful mountainous region of Cantabria.
Day 3: Guided day excursion into the spectacular Picos de Europa, heading inland along the Hermida Gorge to the pretty stone village of Potes. Continue up the Deva valley to Fuente Dé for a breath-taking cable car ride up the 2600foot cliff face for a stunning mountain view. Weather permitting, make an unforgettable afternoon round tour of the mountains over the San Glorio and Ponton Passes and through the Los Beyos ravine to Cangas de Onis, with its Romanesque humpback bridge. Return to Hotel
Day 4: Depart to Bilbao, for a morning panoramic tour of the city with local guide . Optional visit /stop to the Guggenheim, modern art museum (at supplement). It is the financial and cultural capital city of the Basque country region. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the multiple facets of this modern city.
Day 5: Day at leisure for your customers to enjoy all the facilities offered by your hotel and its surroundings in sunny Santona, including tapas lunch at the hotel. Perfect for your driver’s rest day.
Day 6: Morning visit to the Caves of Altamira Visitor Centre, showing exhibits from the caves that house some of the best examples of pre-historic paintings in the world (caves are not open to the public). Rest of the day free in Santillana del Mar for some final souvenir shopping around one of Spain’s most picturesque villages.
Day 7: Morning departure for our late afternoon ferry back to Portsmouth from Santander. Overnight on board.
Day 8: Full day on board ship, arriving back in Portsmouth/Plymouth, for your onward journey home.
